We are back post the break for the FA cup and have a great weekend of Prem football on our hands. Is this the crucial part of the season?
We start with the biggest game of the week, Man City vs Liverpool. This record breaking City team took a 2-1 victory over a strong Bristol City team in Mid-Week. The big battle in this game is going to be the personal fight between-Liverpool’s new £75m defender Virgil Van Dijk and possibly the best striker in the Premier League, Sergio Aguero. Liverpool’s weak defence in the most part of this season has been reinforced by this record breaking transfer. Will it be good enough to get them a win? The loss of Coutinho is obviously a big loss but will that be prevent them from going on to bigger things? Yes and no, the rest of the attack is still their-Firmino, the best player in the Premier League, Salah and maybe the fastest player in the division, Mane. With the three of them becoming the small, blue trio-the SMF (like smurfs, if you didn’t get it, oh well…) It is hard to look past a growing team. Also with the good Merseyside derby win and a dream debut for VVD they are very high on confidence.
On the other hand, Pep’s side looks as strong as usual. I have already spoken about their victory in mid-week over Bristol, as well as that they had a great victory in the FA Cup. They may have gone 1-0 down but as per usual, Pep’s team pulled through. Four goals secured the 4-1 victory over Burnley so a victory over Liverpool seems imminent.
The other big game this weekend is Chelsea vs Leicester. Chelsea, who drew 0-0 with Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in mid-week, come up against a good Leicester team. Claude Puel’s team should put up a good fight against Conte. With some key players coming back into form. Who will take the victory though? Chelsea will still be the favourites, but I am going to for Leicester City this time. Prediction: 1-0.
Another great week of football and hopefully some big scores in this weekend’s fixtures!
