We are back with another EPL Opinions to talk about the top fixtures coming up this weekend and some of the new features on the Jamie’s Sports Blog website.
Let’s start with the Friday Night game, Liverpool take on Arsenal in a big game to determined who will be in the top four heading into Christmas. Liverpool are just one point ahead on 34 points and have better goal difference than the Gunners. With Liverpool’s shaky defence anything can happen. It has recently been released in the press that Man City are going to try and buy Sanchez, will that weigh on the players’ minds? Yes, Sanchez is a key player and brings a great work ethic to this unit. He will also be the key to break down Liverpool’s back four, ball over the top and who knows what may happen to Lovren. You can’t rule out Liverpool’s explosive front four though. The aim of football is to outscore the opponent, which they have done on numerous occasions. The pace of Mane and Salah, the creativity of Countinho and the finishing of Firminio is the perfect combination. Prediction 1-1.
Now onto the Saturday fixtures, in the early game Chelsea take on Everton. Last season this looked to be a very big fixture, actually the same could be said this year as well. A recovering Everton, where Big Sam has worked wonders are now sitting comfortably in 9th, unbeaten in their last five and only a point behind Leicester in front. Chelsea sit in third but not as good as they were last season. With the toffees looking a good squad right now it is hard to write them off but it’s Chelsea. Everton 1-2 Chelsea.
We move onto maybe not one of the most eagerly awaited games of the season but is pretty crucial in the scheme of things, Swansea vs Crystal Palace. Roy Hodgson’s Palace sit in 14th one point behind 12th and are looking a formidable side. On the other end of the spectrum, Swansea City sit rock bottom and have just fired their manager Paul Clement. Clearly Palace are the better side and should have a simple victory away from home, 3-0.
The final game we are going to talk about is Leicester vs Man Utd. A bit of an odd fixture as it is being played at 7:45 GMT on a Saturday. Man United had to hold on to beat West Brom 2-1 last weekend but it is Leicester on a weird run of form. They walked over Southampton in the mid-week fixtures but were destroyed by Palace on the weekend, seeing how poorly they played in that game you can’t see past the Red Devils. Prediction: 2-1.
Now to talk a little bit about the new fixtures on the Jamie’s Sports Blog website. On the Menu tab there are new links to a scores section and a Premier League table. Both will be updated regularly, the table after match days and the scores as the goals go in.
