With it being the last chance to qualify for the World Cup, there is a lot to talk about, about this international break. We have to start off with England, Gareth Southgate’s side managed to scrape two, one nil victories in this break. Their first one was against Slovenia with Harry Kane grabbing a very late winner (90+4mins). This sums up England’s qualifying performance, late winners not outright victories. If they play like this in Russia it will be the same result as in Brazil. As well as that if Harry Kane doesn’t show up and play his best they are going to struggle as he seems to be England’s only good player.
Let’s move onto Argentina and talk about the living legend who is Lionel Messi, helps his team qualify after going a goal down and scores a hat-rick, you can’t say he isn’t good, if not great. But that was not the only thing that happened yesterday in South America as Chile (winners of the last two Copa America tournaments) failed to qualify after the 3-0 defeat to Brazil.
The last team I would like to talk about is the Netherlands, not qualifying for the Euros or the World Cup with their team is disappointing. The team who manage to finish 3rd in the 2014 World Cup have lost the plot since then and don’t look like they will qualify for a major tournament any time soon.
